Washington Rolls Out A New Home Court

SEATTLE – Alaska Airlines Arena has always been one of the best venues for volleyball in the country, but this season it’s officially a volleyball court. While the Huskies were on the road in Boise last week earning three wins at the Northwest Challenge, UW facilities crews were laying down a brand new home court advantage, piece by piece.


When the Huskies returned, they found the hardwood covered by Taraflex, a cushion-backed sheet vinyl currently used in the world’s premier volleyball events such as the Olympic Games and FIVB championships events, and gaining traction now in the NCAA as well. A total of 30 sheets of Taraflex were rolled out and connected to create a single, clean main court surrounded by purple.
