Linoleum and the environment

Composed of 98% natural, bio-sourced or mineral materials, linoleum is our most ecological flooring! Also incorporating materials that are recycled and/or 100% recyclable, it falls squarely within a circular economy approach.

Where's the proof? It has received the highly sophisticated Cradle to Cradle Silver certification.

Product

98% bio-sourced and mineral composition

A revolutionary product invented in 1863, linoleum showcases excellent performance while being very environmentally friendly. This flooring is, in fact, composed of 98% bio-sourced or mineral materials:

  • 41% linseed oil
  • 20% wood
  • 9% mineral filler
  • 8% jute
  • 5% resin
  • 3% colored pigments
  • 2% cork

Cradle to Cradle certified floor covering

Designed adhering to a circular economy, DLW linoleum integrates environmental issues throughout all stages of its life cycle to achieve carbon neutrality. Thanks to this commitment, it has received Cradle to Cradle certification (link). This highly ambitious certification rewards our sustainable development efforts by measuring 5 criteria:

  • re-use of materials
  • health impact of materials
  • water management
  • renewable energy
  • social equity

Fully recyclable flooring

Finally, fully recyclable, our end-of-life linoleum is quickly renewable in production and installation waste: 76% of its content can be recycled in one year or less.

In addition, it is composed of up to 40% recycled components!

Modularity and Long-Term Adaptability

Ambulatory spaces frequently evolve as patient needs and clinical services change. Flooring solutions that offer modularity give facilities the ability to adapt without costly overhauls. For example, LVT allows individual tiles to be replaced rather than resurfacing an entire room, while heterogeneous sheet flooring balances durability with design flexibility to support renovations.

This adaptability not only reduces lifecycle costs but also helps maintain continuity of care by minimizing downtime during updates or repairs.
