Everman ISD – E. Ray Elementary School Flooring Upgrade
In 2019, E. Ray Elementary School in Everman Independent School District made a strategic flooring upgrade by replacing classroom carpet with Gerflor GTI Max interlocking tiles and installing Rec 60 6062 Canadian Maple sports flooring in the gym. This change created cleaner, more functional learning and activity spaces while reducing upkeep demands.
Why It Worked for E. Ray Elementary
- Lower Maintenance Costs
Switching from carpet to GTI Max tiles reduced the school’s maintenance expenses by about one-third. The durable surface is easy to clean and requires less frequent deep maintenance, saving both time and budget. - Furniture Stays Put During Cleaning
Custodial teams no longer need to remove all furniture to clean floors—making daily upkeep faster and less disruptive. - Teacher-Friendly
Teachers can use floor tape for classroom activities without fear of damaging the surface. - High-Performance Gym Surface
The Rec 60 Canadian Maple sports flooring in the gym provides a safe, resilient surface ideal for PE classes and school events.
Looking Ahead
Following the success of the 2019 upgrades, Everman ISD plans to install an additional 7,000+ square feet of GTI Max in 2025 or 2026. This next phase will extend the benefits of reduced maintenance costs, improved durability, and enhanced flexibility to more learning spaces.
